Cherry crops in Argentina are forecast to finish early due to poor weather conditions.
This will affect varieties such as Bing, which normally last through January.
According to importer Redbridge AFI, sea freight programmes, which provide fruit in some volume for the next 10 days, will then be over and the market will be reliant on the last fruit from late supply regions south of Mendoza.
Little support can be expected from Chile, which is also facing similar conditions.
This will mean that importers will be looking towards Australia and New Zealand for cherries earlier than usual.
