A round-table summit area where visitors can take part in discussions on topical issues in the convenience sector was launched at CRS.
The sessions covered subjects that included recruitment, retention of staff and the minimum wage.
Away from staff issues, the discussions focused on building a business and sales.
Mike Igoe, c-store chain Jacksons' brand development manager, led a session that looked at marketing issues and how independents could get the best out of a small store.
Topics ranged from running a Post Office to whether delivering newspapers to customers made good business sense.
