Grocer Club members should look carefully at their product pricing because a raft of changes have already entered the system and there are more to follow. From January 1 the VAT on sanitary protection products was reduced from 17.5% to 5% and users will be expecting retailers to pass on the lower prices. Most cigarette prices are about to rise and independent retailers - while striving to be competitive  will need to adjust their pricing to maintain what is already a thin margin. William Reed Publishing has the answer to the pricing jungle in both printed and IT formats, through its PriceCheck and Products-online facilities. PriceCheck is published 10 times a year and contains more than 11,000 prices. It includes a KVI (Known Value Items) section, a page for new arrivals and, for some product categories, a carefully worked out c-store price where increases and decreases are clearly signalled. Products-online is updated daily at the WRP offices with all price changes going live on the system every three weeks. A WRP spokeswoman said: "This month alone we were notified of 180 new lines and we have been informed of a raft of price increases that are due to take effect in February. "The quickest way for Grocer Club readers to obtain up to the minute price information is to log on to www.products-online.co.uk" For readers who prefer the written version WRP has a special offer for Grocer Club members. Instead of the normal price of £22 for a year's subscription, PriceCheck can be obtained for just £18. To order your copy, call the subscription hotline on 01293 610457. {{GROCER CLUB }}
