The owner of London's famous Ginger Pig butcher's shop has opened a traditional grocer in North Yorkshire - and says he is planning a chain of similar stores across the region.

Tim Wilson, renowned for his meat shop in Marylebone and stall at the capital's Borough Market, bought the Seasons store in Pickering three months ago.

The shop, near the farm where Wilson rears his own organic meat, has been re-named the Ginger Pig and has been re-styled as an old-fashioned grocery store.

Wilson plans to source new products from London outlets such as Neal's Yard, well-known for specialist cheeses. Sausages, bacon, pies and terrines will be supplied by Wilson's farm in Levisham, North Yorkshire, while nearby hotelier Victor Buchanan of the White Swan will supply freshly made cakes and desserts.
