The closest most people can usually get to a Bond car is running their hands across the bonnet of one at the London Motor Show. But for just £16,000 you can now say you own the car that Daniel Craig drove in Casino Royale.

OK, so it's not an Aston Martin, but thanks to clever styling on Ford's behalf the end result is a car that looks a lot sharper than its predecessors and wouldn't look out of place on a film set.

Smart fabrics, soft-touch trim materials and sleek exterior designs such as rear lights that wrap around the body sides and a double front grill give the Mondeo a sporty feel, while the spacious interior and 528-litre boot means that it has substance as well as style.

Plus the car is loaded with gadgets that may as well have come straight out of Q's laboratory. Take the Human Machine Interface - a central unit to control the radio, satnav and phone - and seven airbags, including one for the driver's knee. There are also optional multi-stage heated and cooled front seats. Other luxury options include a capless fuel filler that prevents you putting in the wrong fuel and adaptive cruise control.

The car is available in 1.6, 2.0 and 2.3-litre petrol and 1.8 and 2.0-litre diesel engines with varying outputs.

Bentley Continental GTC, from £130,500

For a real Bond-style car you could do worse than this beautiful, yet pricey, soft-top Bentley. It has a plush leather interior, although people might not notice - it has a top speed of 195mph and does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

BMW 3 Series Convertible, from £33,000

This is the first car BMW has built with a folding metal roof instead of a soft top, which it claims makes for a more elegant car. And you won't get caught short in the rain - the roof comes up in just 22 seconds.

Volkswagen Eos, from £28,400

The V6 model of the Eos uses a 3.2-litre engine and has 247bhp with a 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds. All this is impressive stuff - but the downside is that the car is expensive to buy and costly to run.
