Proof of Age Standards Scheme (Pass) has announced that Robert Humphreys has become its new chairman.
The British Retail Consortium initiated Pass in 2003 with support from the Home Office and other trade associations to tackle the problem of fake ID. Humphreys has been involved with Pass since its inception.
Now that Malcolm Hurlston has stepped down as chairman, Humphreys will lead the scheme. He has been honorary secretary for the all-party parliamentary beer group for 12 years.
Prior to that, Humphreys was director of PR for Bass Breweries. He was with the
brewing and pub company for 20 years.
One of his first initiatives as chairman of Pass has been to announce his ambition to enforce the message of ‘No Pass, no sale’, as opposed to just ‘No ID, no sale’ by September 1.
