The frozen section at the exhibition will be 10% bigger than in 1999 A great opportunity for retailers to "keep a step ahead in the race" is promised by the British Frozen Food Federation, which has thrown its weight behind the frozen zone at this year's exhibition. BFFF director general, Alf Carr, says: "We have developed a programme to make frozen food at IFE even more relevant than before, creating a new federation stand as a focal point and information centre for the zone." Services include a databank of all the new frozen products at the show. The frozen section will be 10% bigger than the 1999 show, covering a record 3,300 square metres. The 100 exhibiting companies will cover the entire food spectrum, from ice cream and vegetables to bakery and bake-off, and include leading players such as Ben & Jerry's, McCain and Daloon Foods. From its Flying Friesian, psychedelically coloured, converted American school bus, Ben & Jerry's plans to serve up its latest ice cream range, which includes the Full Vermonty, Berry N'ice' and Half Baked. Gourmet brand Hill Station is featuring its new mango & lime ice cream, now available in 500ml tubs from the end of April. For the retailer, Daloon is featuring its recently launched samosas with a tandoori spiced mixed vegetable filling and its new Indian Classics, a mixed pack of samosas and onion bhajis. Its established range can also be sampled. Ardo Shearway plans to launch a new approach to frozen vegetables in a convenient format. It has also created new frozen fruit packs designed to broaden the overall appeal of these products. Arkady Craigmillar plans to launch Karp's, an authentic American brand of bakery products which can be sampled on the stand. The company says they'll provide a genuine solution to consumer demand for American taste bakery products. Belfield Farms is launching flavoured mashed potatoes from Eurofreez. They come in cheese, colcannon, parmesan and red onion flavours. The Findus brand plans to strengthen its name with a major launch into the foodservice market at the show. The launch includes 37 new products, featuring fish dishes and vegetarian options plus its Findus Crispy Pancakes. {{FOCUS SPECIALS }}
