William Jackson and Son has appointed Norman Soutar as group managing director, replacing Christopher Oughtred who will remain as chairman until he retires from the company in the new year. Soutar joins from Baxters where he has worked for five years, the final two as group managing director. He has also held posts at Hillsdown Holdings, Ross Breeders, and Strathaird Salmon.
HB Ingredients has appointed Trevor St John as financial director, and Stephen Blanchard as technical manager. St John has had over 30 years' experience in City banking, while Blanchard has worked in the brewing and flavours industry for 25 years.
McDonald joins FFG
The Finsbury Food Group has appointed Dianne McDonald as regional HR manager for its Scottish subsidiaries. Her role will be to develop career paths and training strategies, along with building successful co-operation between staff at the different sites. She joins from the Royal Bank of Scotland where she worked in employment law.
Derek Thomson has been appointed general manager of Lanarkshire firm California Cake Company. He joins from United Central Bakeries where he has been general manager since 2003. Operations manager Ronnie Stebbings will now take on the position of general manager at UCB.
The Northern Ireland Food Advisory Committee has appointed five new members. Alan Crowe, Dr Sinead Furey, Professor Barbara Livingstone, Dr John Moore and Michael Walker will draw upon their skills and experiences to advise the FSA on food safety and standards issues with particular focus on Northern Ireland.
