Jila mints and gum has become the latest Antipodean brand to debut in the UK.
The sweets are currently rolling out to airport branches of Allday, WHSmith and service station chains after being snapped up by Winchester-based importer TAW.
They join a growing list of Aussie fmcg bestsellers to make it to this side of the globe including iconic biscuit brand Anzac - already known to British travellers who have journeyed Down Under - which debuted in Sainsbury’s earlier this summer.
Now TAW is hoping that Jila can replicate its success in Australia where it is among the nation’s top selling confectionery brands. Manufactured by Ferndale Confectionery, Jila mints boast natural peppermint oil, while the gum variant is positioned as being the only product of its type to contain no carbohydrate. Boxes of both are currently retailing for 59p and 69p in the UK.
A spokesman said: "The mints are already popular in 10 other countries."
