Ray Jones has been named as the new chairman of Scotland Food & Drink.

He takes over at the helm next month from former Diageo executive Allan Burns. Jones is currently chief executive of Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland.

“I have a real passion for Scottish food and drink and I’ve seen it grow tremendously in my 12 years working north of the border,” said Jones.

“With an outstanding array of natural products, this country has a tremendous opportunity to develop its food and drink offering. Scotland Food & Drink has been doing excellent work to date and is well on track to meet the growth target of £12.5bn by 2017.

"I firmly believe a united industry will result in an increase in both commercial value and reputation.”
