Kate’s Cakes has won its first mainstream listing and developed new product ranges in a drive to be recognised as a brand in its own right.
The Sussex-based baker - which has until now produced mainly own-label goodies for the likes of Marks and Spencer and Pret a Manger - will go on sale in Waitrose under the Kate’s Cakes banner from August 8.
Its new ranges include whole round cakes in Chocolate Orange Marbled, Cappuccino
and Very Berry variants, individually wrapped slices such as Choc ‘n’ Nut Shortbread and Chocolate Flapjack, loaf slices including Skinny Banana & Raisin and traybakes such as Luxury Chocolate Crunch and Berry & Apple Crumble.
Existing recipes have been improved to fit in with the ethos of producing handmade quality cakes with no unnecessary additives. The company has also developed new packaging and updated its logo.
MD Steve Greenhalgh said: “Customers are continually looking for new tastes and good quality products.”
