Irn-Bru maker AG Barr has appointed Andrew Memmott as its new operations director to replace Alan Bibby, who is retiring later this year. Memmott will be promoted to the position after 18 years with the company in various operational roles. His most recent position as head of manufacturing involved him overseeing AG Barr's £30m investment in its main plant in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, which now houses a new corporate head office, warehouse and distribution facilities. Memmott will now be responsible for managing the company's manufacturing and logistics operations and will also be tasked with developing supply chain and purchasing activities. Memmott succeeds Bibby, who spent 23 of his 31 years at AG Barr in the operations director role. Bibby introduced plastic bottles into the company's manufacturing operation during the late 1970s and managed the recent integration of the new facilities at Cumbernauld. AG Barr's finance director Iain Greenock has also announced he is to retire after 33 years. He will be replaced by Alex Short, who moves from the position of group finance director at William Grant & Sons. "Alan and Iain between them have 64 years of service with AG Barr and have our very best wishes and sincere thanks for the huge contribution they have both made to the company," said chief executive Roger White.
