Stanley Morrice, former MD of McLeish Brothers, the upmarket Scottish deli chain that slipped into administration last month, has been appointed as a non-executive director of independent convenience store group David Sands.
Morrice will advise the Kinross-based business on a part-time basis as the group embarks on a £2m store opening programme.
“I have long been an admirer of the David Sands business and have collaborated with the company in the past,” said Morrice. “Its a progressive chain that has carved a niche in the marketplace by focusing on local communities.”
Meanwhile, four preferred retailers have been selected to buy seven of the 10 McLeish Brothers stores. Glasgow-based delicatessen and restaurant group Peckham’s is set to buy four stores, while three others, including Martin McColl, are set to pick up one store each.
