What’s your favourite restaurant and what do you like about it? Nutters near Rochdale - Andrew Nutter is a fantastic and creative chef. It’s a great treat to eat there.
Do you prefer healthy food or junk food? I try to keep in good shape by eating almost no junk food and exercising on a regular basis.
Have you ever sent back or complained about a meal? Several times. The worst was monkfish that needed a steak knife to cut it. It was replaced at my request by something simple to cook - fillet steak. It turned out to be the worst steak I’ve ever had so we walked out without paying. As a Glaswegian I don’t part with any money without getting appropriate value.
What’s your favourite tipple? Ardbeg - a single malt whisky from Islay.
What would you rescue from your house if it was burning down? My Suzuki GSX-1000 motorbike.
What’s your fantasy car… and what do you actually drive? The DeLorean from Back to the Future but I drive a Mercedes E320 CDi.
What are you reading at the moment? Giuliani, Leadership - a great insight.
What gadgets do you carry around with you? A phone.
What’s the most embarrassing moment of your professional life? I don’t get embarrassed.
What are your pet hates? Lateness. People not doing what they say they will do and people not trying “in case they fail”.
What’s the best holiday you’ve ever had? A month in the States that included cycling in Hawaii and skiing in Aspen. More recently, taking the children to the theme parks around Kissimmee, Florida.
What’s your motto for life? Socially - something not shared is the less for it.
