Distributor Castle Brands has added a producer of premium bourbon brands to its portfolio.

McLain & Kyne, based in Louisville, Kentucky, has three bourbon brands -Jefferson's, Sam Houston and Jefferson's Reserve - to introduce to the UK, all named after significant figures in American history.

Jefferson's is aged for eight years in new oak barrels, while Sam Houston is aged for ten years.

Both are priced between £25 and £35. Jefferson's Reserve, which has a price point of between £35 and £45, uses new white oak barrels, deep-charred for ageing, and is matured for 15 years.

Castle Brands' CEO Mark Andrews said: "Premium bourbon has been a high priority target category for our company for some time, because it offers very promising growth prospects, both in the US and internationally."
