SABMiller has announced the establishment of two joint ventures with its pan-African partner French group Castel in Algeria and Morocco.

The deal involves two breweries and two soft drink plants in Algeria, three Moroccan breweries, a malting plant and a wet depot. These will be owned 40% by SABMiller and 60% by Castel.

SABMiller has invested $25m in the Algerian venture and $21m in the Moroccan deal. The combined businesses generated sales of $86m for the year to December 31.
