Tate & Lyle to give £4.5m to college

Sugar group Tate & Lyle is giving £4.5m to the college whose scientists helped develop its successful sweetener product, Splenda.

The money will be contributed to King's College London over a five year period and will be used to help set up a centre for research into the link between nutrition and health.

Splenda was developed after research by scientists from King's College London and Tate & Lyle in the 1970s.
