Attic Futura is to launch CD:UK, a new teen magazine which is a spin-off from the popular children's ITV programme SM:tv/cd:uk. The programme is presented by the award-winning team of Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley, who picked up a Bafta honour for the best children's entertainment programme. CD:UK launches on February 23 and is the result of a licensing agreement with Blaze Television (a division of Zenith Entertainment), producer of the TV programme. The magazine will be launched into the teen entertainment market, which includes TOTP, Smash Hits, Live and Kicking and the company's own TV Hits. The market is worth £26m annually with monthly sales of 1.2 million copies. In the UK a teen entertainment title is sold every two seconds. Each issue will be promoted with a high quality and original gift, said the publisher, and substantial retail and above the line investment for the title will be made. The magazine's high production values are said to match the other titles in the teen entertainment market where it will be positioned between TOTP and Smash Hits. Cover price is £1.80. cd:uk promises a cool mix of pop and entertainment, packed with TV and film celebrities, and is being given a £2.5m launch marketing spend. The target market is those between the ages of 11 and 16 who are consider themselves up to the minute with the latest news and trends in pop. Publisher Mary McGovern said: "cd:uk magazine is an exciting launch for Attic Futura and will build on the success of the programme and the appeal generated by the presenters." {{CTN }}
