Scotland's bottled water brands are bubbling. Gleneagles Spring Water has just introduced a new glass bottling line at its Perthshire factory that will enable it to triple output for its UK and overseas customers. Earlier this year it launched its g water in a stylish glass bottle to fill a gap in the market for a product that looks good on the table as an accompaniment to dinner parties and special occasions. It comes in sparkling and still in 75cl bottles, plus a pull-push cap version in still in 250ml and 500ml bottles. The company says the pull-push cap version is proving extremely popular with a younger audience and is being supported by an on-pack computer software promotion and a number of sponsorships including the UK's only professional American Football team, the Scottish Claymores. The brand is already listed in selected Sainsbury and Safeway stoes on a UK wide basis. MD Helen Lamont says its success has a great deal to do with its creative and appealing packaging which provides a clear edge over the dull and uninteresting presentation of other players. Barr Soft Drinks is also targeting the on the move' market, adding a 600ml sports cap variant to its Findlays Spring mineral water. Strathmore Mineral Water says its Clear brand continues to be the number one flavoured water in co-op and multiple grocers with retail sales of £9.2m. The range is low calorie with no added sugar and the top selling flavours are oriental mandarin, garden raspberry, cottage peach and country apple. This summer Strathmore launched Summer Watermelon in single serve 500ml and family sized 1.5 litre PET bottles. Its first key listing is with Safeway. Support includes a sampling roadshow, local radio promotions, magazine promotions and sponsorships. Strathmore also claims the leading position for its Twist brand, with 63% market share, and has given its Strathmore Still Scottish spring water a new look with a premium quality metallic label and blue cap. The company says the relaunch follows a record breaking year in which sales have increased 32% in value. {{Z SUPPLEMENTS }}
