United Biscuits UK has stunned the sales world by announcing that Martin Totty is to leave the company in February to pursue his career elsewhere.

UBUK created the role of sales director for Totty, who joined him from PepsiCo in May 2003. He had been in PepsiCo for 16 years and his posts included vice-president of European sales, vice-president, business development for international snacks, and vice-president for sales at Walkers.

Totty will remain at UBUK until he hands over to a successor, who has yet to be appointed, in February.

UBUK announced further management changes, which have occurred as a result of the acquisition of Jacob’s Biscuit Group from Groupe Danone in September (The Grocer, July 31, p6). UBUK marketing director, Jon Eggleton, will become the marketing director for the integrated UBUK and Jacob’s business when Jacob’s marketing director, Graham Hunter, leaves in the new year.
