Retailers have given a cool reception to news that PayPoint will take over from Payzone as Scottish Power's payment agent in the New Year. This means that payment for electricity and meter tokens in central Scotland and north west England (Scottish Power owns Manweb) will now be handled by retailers with PayPoint terminals. Marketing manager Jonathan Baggott said all existing agents would be invited to join PayPoint's network, and would benefit from the greater range of services its terminals offer. However, Scottish Grocers' Federation chief executive designate Scott Landsburgh said he would prefer that PayPoint did not have a monopoly so retailers could choose a partner. {{NEWS }}
