Imperial Tobacco has appointed Kate Whittles trade marketing controller to help drive brand sales in the wake of the ban on consumer tobacco advertising.
She will be responsible for channel development, point of purchase, trade communications and space planning strategies, also working closely with Imperial Tobacco's brand marketing specialists and sales force.
Whittles was previously space planning manager for the company's UK division, working with independent and multiple retailers.
She said the advertising ban would be of "huge significance" to her role. "I look forward to the challenges. It will be hard work, but I am fortunate to have a dedicated and highly experienced team around me."
Imperial Tobacco's portfolio includes Lambert & Butler cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco Golden Virginia.
