Own label goods manufacturer McBride is still on the market nine months after it was put up for sale. But the detergents, toiletries and non-prescription medicine specialist this week managed to shed its Wrafton Laboratories business. It has sold the enterprise, which contributed some 10% to its £500m annual turnover, to Perrigo for £31m. US based Perrigo plans to develop the pharmaceuticals business as its first major strategic move into Europe. McBride blames a slide in profits on competition from brands and goods produced by Procter & Gamble and Unilever. {{NEWS }}
