The ready-to-eat salmon, smoked using traditional Swedish methods, went into 77 Waitrose stores last week [rsp: £4.94 for 180g].
The Norwegian-farmed salmon is smoked as a double fillet over alder wood chips near the Blekinge Archipelago in Sweden. It can be served in salads, sandwiches and pasta or alone with new potatoes.
"This new hot, smoked salmon is outstanding in terms of its succulence and flavour, which comes from the special way it is smoked," said Waitrose fish buyer Melissa Spiro.
Distinctly Scandinavia founder David Caplin is scouring Sweden for new products to grow the range.
"We are now working towards forging more exciting partnerships with producers across Scandinavia, to bring to the UK the best the region has to offer," Caplin said.
