Waitrose is planning to introduce free Wi-Fi in all its stores by the spring.

The retailer said there was strong demand for Wi-Fi and that it would enable shoppers to browse Waitrose.com on their mobiles in store or even place an order.

“It will give customers another way of shopping and interacting with us,” said head of retail change Matt Clifton. “It will also play a vital part in future plans such as customers being able to use mobiles to scan their shopping.”
