The Majestic Wine Warehouse web site has been rated as one of the best in the business. It came out on top in the @chievement 2001 competition run by Barclays Bank and the Sunday Telegraph which looked at how companies were using the internet for their strategic and commercial advantages. Majestic's e-commerce director Jeremy Palmer said that in the six weeks to June 18 the site accounted for 2% of the company's sales. "Since we launched it last April, we have taken 12,000 orders worth £1.5m and 50% of those customers had not shopped with us before."
