Top of the list is Brexit with calls for minimum tariffs to encourage friction-less trade

The Federation of Wholesale Distributors has urged the incoming government to deliver a frictionless trade deal after Brexit in an election manifesto that identifies six key priorities for its members.

Action on Brexit is top of the list, with calls for the new government to keep tariffs to a minimum and ensure the future immigration policy acknowledges the “importance of lower-skilled workers”.

The six-point manifesto also looks to ensure no new packaging tax obligation for wholesalers, calls for restraint on national living wage increases, and the introduction of further measures to tackle alcohol duty fraud and sugar tax evasion.

It also calls for a new mandatory allergens database, and for the Home Office to commit greater resources to prevent crime and prosecute criminals who target wholesalers and their customers.
