Henderson Group has kicked off a £10m redevelopment of its Mallusk site in Newtownabbey.

The Spar wholesaler, which has its HQ at Mallusk, said the redevelopment would take five years and involve the rebuild and extension of its current office space by 50%. It also plans to expand capacity into its Hydepark warehouse next door, which is currently leased to M&S.

“We will continue to invest in technology, improving our ability to complete our transactions and use our delivery fleet more fully and efficiently,” said Henderson Group sales and marketing director Patrick Doody. “This will be by working closely with our suppliers to get goods from their factories or supply points to Mallusk in the most proficient way possible.”

Doody also revealed the wholesaler planned to further improve its fresh and local ranges in the spring.

“With our continued commitment to local produce, all Spar’s locally sourced products will be repackaged to create a uniform look and feel,” he said. “The relaunch will be backed by a major above-the-line campaign, and the packaging will incorporate a traffic-light system.”
