The new software package would be able to “benchmark” each retail customer’s sales against others

JW Filshill is to use a new reporting system for its field team in a bid to boost sales and profitability for the retailers it supplies.

The system, which it will introduce in the new year, will supply the Glasgow-based wholesaler with product sales data across 183 KeyStore convenience store customers in Scotland and the north of England, with a view to helping them with ranging decisions.

Craig Brown, the £145m turnover wholesaler’s sales director, said sales data would be sent from central office to the nine-strong sales team, who would be equipped with the latest Samsung Galaxy tablets.

Wholesale: are we seeing the death of the cash & carry?

The new software package would be able to “benchmark” each retail customer’s sales against others for different products and categories.

“If there’s a core range of 30 products in a category and that retailer is carrying 20 of those products, we could show the incremental sales benefit of carrying the additional 10 products,” Brown said.

“It’s part of a strategy to support our retail customers in terms of developing their business.”
