The Fresh Produce Consortium has confirmed that CEO Nigel Jenney intends to step down from his role in early 2027, following a planned and structured transition period.
The decision has been taken jointly by Jenney and the board to “ensure long-term continuity, stability and strong succession planning”.
Jenney will continue to lead FPC and will stay on as a non-executive director after stepping down, providing ongoing strategic support and sector insight.
“This is a carefully planned evolution, not a departure,” said Jenney. “FPC is strong, influential and well positioned for its next chapter.”
FPC said that under Jenney’s leadership, the organisation had strengthened its position as “the voice of the UK fresh produce, flower and plant supply chain”.
It said the organisation had been able to deliver policy impact including border reforms, representation of industry interests and recognition “as a trusted partner to government”.
It has also improved its financial resilience, expanded its events portfolio, and enhanced its member services.
The board has commenced a formal recruitment process to appoint FPC’s next CEO.
Alan Forrester, FPC chair, will oversee the transition, and will then stand down from the board to allow the appointment of a new chair to lead the consortium into the future.
“The board has full confidence in FPC’s stability, governance and future direction,” said Forrester. “The best days of FPC are ahead.”
