Heinz has extended its Beanz range with canned beans and pulses inspired by world foods.

Available from next week, the line-up comprises three varieties: Fajita, a mix of pinto beans in a chilli & coriander sauce; Tuscan, cannellini beans in a garlic & basil tomato sauce; and Veg Chilli, red kidney beans in tomato salsa & chilli sauce (all rsp: £1.29).

The trio are targeted at 25 to 44-year-olds and will be backed by a £1.5m push from August that includes TV and radio.

“Our research shows consumers want to experiment with new dishes but don’t feel they have the time or the culinary expertise,” said Heinz innovation manager Nina Shanahan.
