Yazoo maker FrieslandCampina has announced it is investing 45m a year to promote milk from pasture-fed cows.

The Dutch dairy giant said it would pay farmers who committed to using outdoor grazing rather than keeping their cows indoors a premium of 50 cents per 100kg of milk as of 2012 10 times more than the five-cent premium it currently pays.

FrieslandCampina also said it would start offering dairy products with a ‘pasture milk guarantee’ in its Dutch home market.
