AB InBev claims it is “well on its way” to meeting the three-year environmental pledges it made in 2009.

It said it was on track to hit targets such as 10% reductions in CO2 emissions and energy use by the end of 2012.

The claim came as the company announced that lightweight bottles for its Beck’s brand would save about 2,500 tonnes of glass and 2,000 tonnes of CO2 next year. The 275ml Beck’s and Beck’s Blue bottles are 11% lighter than previous bottles.
