Asda’s fresh fruit & veg offering has earned it the accolade of multiple retailer of the year at the Fresh Awards run by the Fresh Produce Consortium.

Asda was selected through an online poll, in which consumers voted for the retailer that offered them the best choice, quality, value for money and customer service on fruit & veg.

Tesco picked up gongs for convenience and floral retailer of the year, while Aldi picked up the prize for best marketing campaign for its ‘Super Six’ push, which promoted six key fruit & veg items at ‘super prices’.

Morrisons fresh produce category manager James Judd was named manager of the year, while overall fresh produce business of the year went to top fruit grower AC Goatham & Son. Other winners included Rhubarb & Bramley of Carshalton in Surrey, which picked up the independent retailer of the year award, while Waitrose Garden buyer Victoria Mason landed the young person of the year award.

“We’re delighted to recognise strong leadership, innovation and business acumen among this year’s finalists and winners,” said FPC CEO Nigel Jenney.
