Happy Egg Co creates pin-up calendar for chickens
The Happy Egg Co is looking to make its hens even happier than usual in 2013 by launching a pin-up calendar for chickens.
The higher-welfare egg brand has published Nice Pecks – a calendar featuring pictures of strutting cockerels in a range of suggestive poses.
The brand said the stunt had been inspired by research which suggested hens were happier and more relaxed when in the company of cockerels. “We couldn’t bring in the real deal because the eggs we buy in the supermarket are not fertilised, [so] we knew we had to take a slightly alternative approach,” said Happy Egg fieldsman Jean-Paul Michalski. “Hens are actually very visual creatures, so that’s when we decided to create the first ever cockerel calendar just for hens and see whether it made them happier.”
One thousand of the calendars will be given away through the Happy Egg Co’s Twitter and Facebook pages, with a ‘making of’ video available on YouTube.
