Lidl has become the first retailer to recall full-size Mars products in the UK by taking six-packs of Mars and Snickers bars off its shelves.
Mars initially said the recall in the UK affected mainly funsize products, but the six-packs were supplied to Lidl via Mars Chocolate Germany rather than the UK division.
They were made at the same Dutch factory, in Veghel, that triggered the original recall that is now affecting numerous countries around the world.
The products being recalled by Lidl UK are:
Product: Mars chocolate bars
Pack size: 6 pack/270g
‘Best before’ date: 4 September 2016, 25 September 2016, 9 October 2016, 16 October 2016
Product: Snickers Chocolate Bars
Pack size: 6 pack/300g
‘Best before’ date: 10 July 2016, 24 July 2016
Consumers are advised not to eat the products and contact Mars customer services instead.
Mars UK said Mars and Snickers standard, duo and multipack bars sourced by retailers from Mars Chocolate UK were not affected by this issue as they were produced in the UK.
