Asda

Asda is recalling its Boys’ Hulk Dress-Up Costume due to a ‘potential choking hazard’.

The supermarket told The Grocer it had received a “small number” of complaints and returns of the £12.50 outfit, which has a date code of 323-231-1030-500.

“We have become aware of a potential choking hazard presented on the stopper of the inflatable muscles on a limited number of products,” a press ad stated this week. Customers are advised to contact the supermarket’s customer relations team or return the product to their local Asda for a full refund.

An Asda spokeswoman said: “We take our responsibility as a retailer seriously and as a precaution we have recalled the Boys Hulk Dress Up Costume.”

Earlier this year, Asda CEO Andy Clarke said costumes were its most valuable Halloween line. He also suggested that parents were more likely than ever to go to trusted retailers like Asda this year when buying Halloween costumes for kids in the wake of the high-profile indicident in which the costume of TV presenter Claudia Winkleman’s daughter caught fire.
