Wahaca

Restaurant group Wahaca is set to roll out a range of Soft Taco Kits to encourage consumers to make Mexican street food at home.

Launching in Tesco stores from 25 July, the NPD (rsp: £3.69) comprises tortillas, marinade and a salsa and will be available in three variants with differing levels of heat: Tomatillo & Garlic Mojo (mild), Tomato & Smoky Chipotle (medium), and Fiery Habanero & Achiote (‘maximum heat’).

Developed by Wahaca co-founder and MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers and her team, in partnership with supplier All About Food, the kits are aimed at ‘the most experienced cook through to the most novice foodie’.

They will be complemented by a collection of individual ingredients, including Garlic & Chipotle marinade (rsp: £1) and two salsas (rsp: £1.79). Flour & yellow corn tortillas will also available in a pack of 10 (rsp: £1.40).

“It has certainly been the year of the taco, and so we are thrilled to be able to offer these simple, easy-to-use kits, which will allow our customers and loyal fans to create a taste of Mexico in their own home,” said Miers.

Matthew Davison, All About Food’s senior national Account Manager for Tesco, added: “We identified that customers are getting more adventurous with their cooking and were looking for more authentic flavours from Mexico. We saw this as an opportunity to bring the amazing flavours and vibrancy from Wahaca into Tesco stores.”
