Morrisons is set to become the first of the big four to launch paperless receipts, in a link-up with tech company eReceipts.

The retailer is among several of the mults in talks with the company, whose chairman is former Tesco CEO Lord Ian MacLaurin, with Asda also believed to be in advanced discussions.

Morrisons is set to give consumers a choice between a receipt at the till, or via email, which it hopes will bring cost and environmental benefits.

eReceipts has already begun a rollout with northern chain Booths and is also working with other retailers including Accessorize, French Connection and Monsoon.

Tesco is also believed to be among those in talks with eReceipts.
