2 Sisters sushi

Demand for fresh products such as sushi and sandwiches has led to 2 Sisters adding 200 people to the payroll

2 Sisters has announced the creation of 200 new jobs following strong demand for fashionable products such as flatbreads and sushi.

The roles have been created at 2 Sisters’ site at Dronfield, Derbyshire, which includes its Gunstones bakery as well as a chilled foods factory.

To meet growing demand amongst consumers, 2 Sisters has taken on almost 200 new employees since June, comprising section leaders, process controllers and general operatives, as well as HR and technical employees.

“Summer is traditionally a peak time for our chilled foods operation, but this year we have seen an unprecedented demand for categories such as sushi and sandwiches from our customers,” said divisional managing director Veepul Patel.

Given the labour-intensive nature of some of those categories, 2 Sisters had to ensure quality, presentation and volumes were “absolutely spot on”, he added. “These extra workers will certainly help us achieve our objectives.”

Gunstones produces baked goods including bread rolls and garlic bread and the chilled site, next to it, produces sandwiches, rolls and sushi.
