London-based cash & carry Dhamecha Group is to open its seventh depot.

The Today’s Group member will open a 70,000 sq ft depot in Lewisham, south east London, later this year. Dhamecha opened its sixth depot, in Hayes, west London, in 2010.

“We are planning to launch the 70,000 sq ft purpose built branch later this year,” said group chief executive Pradip Dhamecha.

“It will not only provide a convenient location for retailers to collect their groceries, impulse products, beers, wines and spirits, but also generate significant full and part-time employment opportunities in the south London area.”

Today’s Group managing director Bill Laird added: “In a tough economic climate, this is excellent news to start the year with and once again underlines the significant opportunities that still exist within the independent sector for Today’s Group wholesalers.”
