Vion’s UK pork business - bought out by management in December - is to be renamed Karro Food Group.

Karro will supply fresh pork, cured and cooked meats as well as frozen burgers and sausages to retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers, just as it did under Vion’s ownership.

The company said it would not be sourcing British pork exclusively but claimed there would be a “focus” on British product. “We are part of a strong and dynamic business, which will allow us develop the British pork industry,” said Karro MD Seamus Carr.

Carr also said Karro intended to “reinvigorate” and further develop the brands it had bought from Vion UK.
