morrisons

Our mystery shopper was initially perturbed by bird droppings on the glass roof of Morrisons Seaburn store, which is located right on the coast near Sunderland. There was also a little clutter as staff were busy replenishing stock on a busy Friday evening. However, she was won over by her dealings with staff, which were “all excellent” including a “very friendly and chatty gentleman” on the checkout. The store provided a full list of 33 items and claimed the victory.

Sainsbury’s in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, ran Morrisons close this week. Our shopper said the dramatic entrance to the store “took your breath away”. However, stock was low in the fresh produce section and two out-of-stock items cost it the chance to grab the win.

Stock was also running low at Waitrose in Ealing, where there were a lot of staff restocking shelves as our shopper went around the store. A member of staff went to retrieve cream from the stockroom and a checkout supervisor kept a till open especially for our shopper.

Availability was also an issue for Tesco in Kilmarnock, which was otherwise “kept to a high standard of cleanliness and well organised”. All staff were friendly and all offered to find what our shopper needed. The checkout operator was also “so friendly, starting conversation and helping me pack”.

Asda Poole was a busy store, but our shopper felt there were not enough staff to keep up with restocking shelves and removing empty boxes. While staff were all pleasant, the store was ultimately let down by three out-of-stock items.
