A recycling scheme set up by Danone has resulted in 500,000 yoghurt bottles being prevented from going to landfill.

The Activia Yogurt Brigade, which encourages consumers to save empty Danone Activia and Shape yoghurt pots as well as Danone Actimel bottles was launched in the UK in September 2010 with TerraCycle.

TerraCycle uses the waste yogurt container packaging material to make a wide range of recycled generic plastic products such as garden benches, watering cans or waste bins.
