It’s nice to bring a birthday cake to a restaurant. Usually. But now a Sunday Times survey tells us that, at joints from Gordon Ramsay’s to Bodean’s BBQ, ‘cakeage’ charges are all the rage.
The phenomenon so far seems limited to London, where prices are never small. At the Savoy it’s £9 per diner! And we bet the waiters don’t even sing happy birthday.
