What was your first-ever job? In a village pub. I think everyone should do bar work as part of life experience training.

What’s been your worst job interview? After it ended, I confidently shook hands, said goodbye and walked into a cupboard.

What was the first music single you bought? David Cassidy - ‘How Can I Be Sure’. That shows my age!

How do you describe your job to your mates? Challenging but rewarding - usually in equal measure.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? How our co-op supports local producers and makes their fantastic local produce available to our members and customers. It has enabled us to put over £45m back into the local economy.

What is the least rewarding part? Catching up on huge numbers of emails.

What is your motto in life? ‘It’s not a rehearsal.’ Try to live in the moment and make the best of every day.

If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? A daily massage with some reflexology thrown in.

Do you have any phobias? No, though I can see why some people have a phobia of clowns.

If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? We urgently need a complete rethink on sustainable farming and food production. Supposed ‘progress’ has led us to this point where a farmer sells a pig at a loss, milk is cheaper than water and labelling is not helping customers make informed choices about how and where their food was produced.

What luxury would you have on a desert island? Salted peanuts. I worry that I’m addicted.

What animal most reflects your personality? I have been told I’m like Tigger - I have a lot of energy and a permanent spring in my step.

What’s your favourite film and why? Some Like it Hot has everything: bonkers plot, great performances, very funny and a fabulous wardrobe.

What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? See my job interview answer as a top contender.

Which celebrity would you most like to work with and why? David Attenborough for his incredible knowledge and passion. His enthusiasm for the natural world is infectious and he still has a twinkle in his eye.
