Poundland has signalled its intent to launch an e-commerce website - and continue its march into Europe.

Former trading director David Coxon has been moved to business development director and will focus on developing Poundland’s online offer and its international expansion.

Coxon has been replaced by former Morrisons marketing chief Richard Lancaster, but Poundland CEO Jim McCarthy said there would be a lengthy handover period.

“David will retain operational responsibility until Christmas 2012 to enable Richard to concentrate on understanding Poundland prior to becoming operationally responsible,” he said.
