Imperial Tobacco has promoted Colin Wragg to the role of senior UK corporate and legal affairs manager.

Wragg moves from head of grocery and replaces Steve Stotesbury, who is moving to another position in the company.

He takes on the role as tobacco manufacturers and retailers await a decision from the government on whether the tobacco display ban will be introduced to larger stores in October.

Last month, Scotland delayed the introduction of its display ban because it could not guarantee that an ongoing judicial review initiated by Imperial Tobacco would be over by October, when the ban was due to come into force there. "The regulatory environment is both fast-moving and extremely challenging, so a vital element of my remit is to ensure Imperial maintains open channels of communication between ourselves and key stakeholders," said Wragg.
