Chilled food distributor NFT has won a six-month rolling contract to provide warehousing and distribution for Essential Fruits.
NFT said it secured the contract for temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution throughout the UK and Europe due to the potential for its flagship London facility to generate “substantial commercial savings”.
Fruit importer Essential Fruits provides raw materials for pre-packed fruit salads, juice drinks and other products that contain real fruit.
The contract will see NFT provide end-to-end logistics for the supplier and expects to cut its distribution costs, food waste and food miles by up to 20% by streamlining the supply chain. As part of the rolling deal, NFT will collect, store and distribute up to 6,000 pallets per week for the supplier.
“Essential Fruit use most of the ports in the South East of England and is a great example of NFT London providing commercial advantage regardless of the port of entry into the UK,” said NFT strategic development director Dale Fiddy.
“With NFT London providing a single point of contact between port, warehousing, distribution and retailer, there are substantial commercial savings.”
Essential Fruits MD Dan Cahill added: “Essential Fruit import and export fruit products from all around the world and the port-centric chilled capability of NFT London, coupled with the network infrastructure of the wider NFT business, has provided a superior strategic location for our operations into and out of the UK.”
