European Food Brokers has purchased the rights to the Oddbins brand name and website.

The identity of the company had previously been confidential.

EFB, which bought 37 Oddbins stores from administrators Deloitte through its Whittall’s Wine Merchants subsidiary, will continue to use the Oddbins brand at the stores. Twenty of the stores are in London, with 10 in Scotland and the remainder in Oxford, Liverpool and Manchester.

Oddbins entered administration in March after a CVA bid was voted down by HMRC, which was owed £8.57m in duty, national insurance contributions and VAT.

Five Oddbins stores were bought by ExCellar, a small chain of wine shops owned by ex-Oddbins chief Simon Baile. The remaining 128 stores have either been sold off piecemeal, handed back to landlords, or remain on the market.
